The trip was not without its trials and tribulations but overall the East Coast of Taiwan is amazing. Today I’ll post the waterfall pictures and tomorrow I’ll post the ocean pictures.
Trials and tribulations:
- Dark, dark clouds on the first day but no significant rain.
- Over 100 cars stopped while road construction completely blocked the road in the mountains.
- Campground closed again but I was able to camp at a nearby (30+kms) police station that has camping facilities
- Incredibly hot – I nearly melted on day two taking pictures at Sansiantai (pictures tomorrow in the next post)
- Campsite on the walami trail way overbooked and had no room – dayhiked half of the trail and camped at LoShan Rec Area
- Terrible backache because I had to wear my small backpack instead of bungeeing it to my motorcycle.
- Incredibly windy on the return trip.
But the trip was awesome and I will return many times. I visited 3 big waterfalls and could have spent days photographing the ocean at Sansiantai instead of an hour. However I may have passed out due to the heat.

This waterfall is difficult or impossible to access for a closer look/photo. But it might be the most impressive that I saw on the trip.

wow, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the bike. Weird lol. It’s like it’s an old friend I haven’t seen for a long time. Soooooo happy to hear she’s still healthy and strong. I guess you’ve been keeping up on the oil changes and being good to her. Thanx for keeping me posted! That’s really cool

Beautiful photos. I love the Walami Trail, even though I haven’t been on it since 2002.
